Enabling Works to prepare the last open pan salt works in Cheshire for restoration. Funded by Cheshire West and Chester Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund. Dismantling of Stove House 5 is necessary because of the poor condition of the building. It will be rebuilt on new foundations as part of the restoration of the site. Stove House 5 is part of the Scheduled Monument even though it was only constructed in 1965, but it was built to a traditional design. The roof is a king post construction and has two gables with 5 trusses. There is a raised ventilation canopy. See the previous videos and time lapse photography which show the removal of the asbestos sheeting and roof boards and the dismantling of the east gable. The works are described in a blog diary being kept by Andrew Fielding at www.lionsaltworks.blogspot.com
