There is no respect for security officers. Security basically have no powers of arrests, they are not backed by the company they work for. Companies are so scared of getting sued that if a security officer gets attacked and defends himself/herself by using counter force, the company will fire them and won't defend them. It's a no win job. I work security part time but I don't get into anything. If I see something I just call 911 and have the police handle it.

Security has been disrespected, since it was used.
Earliest that I know of was the mid 70's at the former Worcester Galleria Mall. I'm sure there was a lot prior, especially during the drug-crazed "Revolution".
