I've done the same set-up with free recycled ice cream tubs from our local ice cream stand--about the same size as the litter buckets. The red wrigglers I got for free from our regional district (here in Canada), so check with with your local Environmental Trust or county agent. Any agency concerned with reducing municipal solid waste or supporting urban gardening is a good place to check for availability of worms. I've also seen composting worms for sale at farmers markets.

good video, man...

@farmerGibs22. The worms you want are not earth worms but the ones that reside on the top of the soil, facilitating the breakdown of decaying leaf matter.

why red wigglers instead of earthworms or nightcrawlers?

Very clever. I admire your ingenuity and the calm, amused reaction you have to the cats, dogs, trains, and daughters attempting to steal the show.

Great reuse of your old kitty litter buckets! What is a garden without a worm bin?

Ill have to make one of these... To bad i dont have a cat... lol...ill have to steal some buckets from the lady next door...
Earth worms and night crawlers are more suited for outside soil where soil temeratures don't get too hot. The worm bucket will get quite worm (steamy at times) and red wigglers are going to survive in this. Besides, the larger worms don't fit through the little holes ;)
