Andry discovered a pea sized lump in her breast whilst showering one evening so immediately made an appointment with her doctor the following day. He referred her to Mr Dimitri Hadjiminas, a consultant breast and endocrine surgeon at the Harley Street Clinic. After she had a series of tests, including a mammogram, a biopsy and an ultrasound, she was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer and was recommended to have a lumpectomy straight away. Lumpectomy is the removal of the breast tumour (the lump) and some of the normal tissue that surrounds it. It is also is a form of breast-conserving or breast preservation surgery.
