Save time by speeding up up 1:56 to see the strange car
-
The head Norfolk 9216 I seen this 4 days ago in Richmond Indiana.
-
more then likely its hauling spent fuel rods, they haul them usally on bigger cotainers witch makes me think it was for like hospital stuff cause thats all done by the DOE, and AEC, but the DOD is the guys who normally move it long distances..
-
If that was a military train, why wasn't there a DODX caboose on it?
-
loved this train.. it had a little of everything in it:D
-
It was a DODX flat car for hauling spent fuel rod containers.Depending on where this train was, most likely headed toward South Carolina for stortage.
There are more flat cars that do this task ,all own by DODX.

alien parts the truth is out there....
-
It looks like the whole damn train is hauling nasty stuff.
-
from what i can see it looks like the car number is 3X7X27 but i could be wrong..

Just throwing this out there as i watch the vid. If you take a close look at the consist of this car it seems to be a turbine or a generator of some swort. Althought Jim40135 could in fact be right. To me it looks like a turbine or generator. Great catch

?Interesting car, any idea what it was hauling? It looks like it contains liquids, possibly a hazardous material car?

It does look like a container for super-cooled liquids. It must be fairly heavy to be on that 8-axle wagon. Do they move spent fuel rods by rail in the US like we do (in the UK)?
jim40135 3 years ago
Yes, but this isn't that type of car. And it's rare that trains in the US transport spent fuel rods because we store them in the power plants' "pools".

Zach, it's department of defense, God knows what our military is hauling. It could be Plutonium for making nukes, but that is just something only my imagination would come up with! =]
