This is the fourth and final movement of my mermaid symphony. It is one of my favorite pieces of music that I've written. It contains references to Alan Silvestri and Masato Nakamura. See if you can catch them!

  • Very nice!

Quick question: i have Finale 2011, and I'm considering getting one of the Garritan libraries. I'm used to using the standard Finale library, so I'm wondering... would Personal Orchestra 4 work for me, or should I go with Instant Orchestra?

  • @IceCreamIslander I'm not very familiar w/ Instant Orchestra, but I'm guessing if you're already used to setting up the various instruments with the included library, then you'll transition very naturally to using the full GPO4. So that'd be my recommendation.

  • certainly a lot of irish folk influence, Vaughan Williams too. Favorite part is from 5:35 onward, piano part over orchestra is well written. Is this using Finale Garrison orchestra?

  • @TheJoyfulPianist Thank you. :-) This is using Finale and Garritan, but not the version of Garritan that is included w/ Finale; it is the separate, full version of GPO4.

  • @lewars1912 Thank you -- while this piece has detectable influence from Alan Silvestri and David Arnold (two film composers), the work is my own creation, yes.
