  • Back in those days they weren't afraid to tell the truth. "Arab terrorists." Today, a person would not dare say this on the air.

  • A seminal moment in televison news coverage. McKay at his best.

  • you won't find anyone like McKay anywhere anymore. powerful stuff

  • Political correctness SUCKS! These people were not ISLAMIC RADICALS they were ARAB TERRORISTS with one thing on their mind KILL ISRAELI JEWS.

People were stunned that Jim McKay pulled no punches when he said "They're all gone" Now we cannot dare call them terrorists because we might offend one of them.

  • Vin Scully and Jim McKay in the same broadcast booth

  • With all due respect. This was Jim McKay's finest hour, and will be long remembered after he's gone.

  • @yellowbelly70 That's because not all Arabs are terrorists butthole. Just like not all Arabs are even Muslim. Did you know that? Your statement is like saying my husband is a terrorist because he is Arab even though he is christian. Also, just so you know NOT ALL MUSLIMS ARE TERRORISTS EITHER!

  • arabs are douchebags

  • Can't the comments here just go back to how much of a credit Jim McKay was to news broadcasting? We're all of different opinions on the political debate, but getting pig-headed isn't going to get any message across.

  • To find exactly the right words then and there for a moment like that is the absolute pinnacle of professionalism.

By prefacing it with that brief story about his father, and then giving the world those three unequivocal words 'They're all gone', Jim McKay demonstrated a level of dignity, humanity and professionalism that few will ever reach.

  • Jim McKay=greatest sportscaster ever.

He made all the stories he covered, even the most absurd, matter. You may have never saw ostrich racing or barrel jumping but with McKay telling you about who the competitors were and about the people, he made you care. That's powerful sportscasting.
