Aaliyah's look isn't hard to accomplish at all. All you needed was a good conditioned lengthy black wig with ends cut and all, candy apple red lips, impeccable tweezed brows, dark eye shadow and abracadabra, you have the lovely Aaliyah...lol. Trust me, it would have worked, you both have that tawny complexion. And the dress you had on would have tied everything together nicely.
