We have all heard so much about the "Father of Disc Golf," but how many of us have ever seen or heard from him?

Here is a candid interview with "Steady" Ed Headrick from Huntsville, Alabama during the 1993 PDGA World Championships. Imagine interviewing this guy, who was on the Johnny Carson show, CEO of Wham-O, and inventor of the "Disc Entrapment Device." Ed also re-tooled and marketed the Frisbee, as it became the iconic piece of sporting equipment that we all know and love today.

As we enter a year where our aspirations are to "take disc golf to the next level," it might be useful to understand how far we have already come in these last 20 years!

I consider this 6 minutes some of the most profound philosophical commentary that our sport has ever known. Ed's vision of disc golf was, not just to serve as a recreational outlet, but also to change lives!

Special thanks to Lavone Wolf, the Tournament Director of the 1993 PDGA World Championships for granting DGPtv the honor of preserving, not only this historic interview, but the entire 1993 Worlds archive. We will be featuring more of this historic World Championship throughout this, its 20th Anniversary year, during our broadcasts.

Enjoy!
John D.

Also at the time the parks were crowded with homosexuals which a lot of people didn't like, so they rather had an dg course in there. Might be weird to some but this is what was going on.

This is no mortal man. To me, he is a god. So much of my life has been devoted to disc golf. I always reserve a little time each day to go out to a field or local course to chuck my plastic and really start living(its my way of going to church). If he were still alive today (RIP), I would have to spend a very long time thanking Mr. Headrick for his beautiful contribution to our world. Really, he isn't dead; his legacy and dream lives in all disc golfers.

I would have also questioned that comment, but, I witnessed this first hand. So I concur with Ed's statement.
