This video was filmed in the 1940's in Bogota, NJ in Bergen County. It shows the day that a Movie star came home to Bogota to a town wide parade. She arrived on a passenger train, which today is a CSX commercial train line. Some great old footage!
I have corresponded with Grant Hayter-Menzies the author of "Mrs. Ziegfeld: The Public and the Private Lives of Billie Burke" (published May 2009 by McFarland). Mr. Menzies has seen hundreds of photos, including private family photos, as well as hundred of hours of film footage and can positively state that this was not Billie Burke, nor did she ever live in Bogota. I was disappointed, but extremely grateful to Mr. Menzies for all his help.
she lived on east fort lee road - i was told the story about her by a person now deceased who knew her and he lived there his whole life. he owned several properties in town. i have since moved but lived in her house.
I think that the movie queen may have been Billie Burke - she was Glinda the Good Witch in the Wizard of Oz. When I lived in Bogota as a kid/teen, rumor had it that she'd lived in a house on Larch or Elm - can't remember which
