A special look at how BLACK SWAN's dark, creepy effects were made.

  • Couple hours earlier, I was eating some stuff and a scene from CSI where they dissected a human head and brain appeared. I was cool and continued with eating like a boss.

BUT, when I watched Black Swan and those quills and 'skin rash' started appearing I almost ripped my eyes out.

    Scarred for life.

  • I have to say that the movie isn't completely about the dancing. It's about a character going insane to be perfect. The dancing is amazing and it's not that big of deal that a stunt double was used. I still love the part where she turns into the black swan onstage even though it wasn't Natatlie. My favorite shot in any film last year. It's about the filmaking and sometimes certain things need to be sacrificed. My number two film of last year by the way!

  • portman only get her oscar cause of head replacement

  • Did not realise how much CGI was in this film! The post production crew and all the techies deserve a medal :)

  • This is magic.

  • @staboymalibu94 I was being simple, in cinematography, they have their own version of photoshop meaning digital software using algorithms, matte matching/moving, chroma key, and many other terms / effect tools used to add or take away from a shot. Adobe has its own version called "After Affects" so saying "photoshop" is a general term for simplicity's sake. :)

  • @iamlost2 no I found it. It's not photoshop it's called... I don't remember the name. i think maco

  • @staboymalibu94 photoshop

  • Hey, check out my vfx reel too! :)

  • they show the crew removal like it's not a big deal. but I put my brains out and still can't figure out how they made the camera man disappear. Help?

  • @pianerjoe Its from Swan Lake :)

  • of course full body shots were her double. you cannot learn ballet in a few months. takes years and years, and not everyone can go up on pointe. but natalie did a good job.

  • Awesome VFX reel!!

  • This movie looks terrifying!

  • @RetroPotter Did you see the movie? They did the face replacement for the one scene where she's going crazy and she sees her own face everywhere.

  • @pianerjoe found it! No.8 - Danse Des Coupes: Tempo Di Polacca , from swan lake of course.

  • @joemccarney it's from No.8 - Danse Des Coupes: Tempo Di Polacca from swan lake, by tchaikovsky, minus the first minute or so

  • i'm trying to figure out this piece as well... sounds like it could be tchaikovsky. maybe strauss. a dance? anyone know?

  • Anyone know what the music is?

  • @RetroPotter I totally agree. She's a good actress, but most of the pointe scenes were her body double. You cannot learn to be that good in 6 months. Ballet is a lot harder than people think. Most of her training was to get her body to LOOK like a ballerina's.

  • wow

  • Wow this is soooo cool!!! Thanks so much for posting.

  • I really like how they did the reflections of the camera removal but also the mirror reflections to where the actress' reflection is different very awesome!

  • @RyanRami14 they did the face replacement

  • they deleted the scenes with Sarah Lane!! The Dance Double!!

  • I was wondering when I saw the movie how they were able to film mirrors without a camera in the reflection

  • yup.. great work guys!!!
