Ashram Express departs from Delhi en route to Ahmedabad hauled by a WDP4 diesel locomotive [General Motors Electro-Motive Division design]. EMD locos are manufactured at the Diesel Loco Works, Varanasi, based on transfer of technology from the General Motors, USA.
Till a few weeks ago, the 21-car train was double-headed with two WDM-3A diesel engines, and is now replaced by a single 4000 hp WDP-4 engine hauling 24 carriages at a good speed. The location of this video is near the Delhi International Airport. The entire route from Delhi to Rajasthan is non-electrified, and diesel locomotives haul all trains on this route.
