Interesting, I am not at all a George Michael fan, but I am very impressed he decided to take on this Don McLean classic. Pretty impressive, and he does a nice job.

cont'd: He trained many men who went on to Vietnam after he came back. Yrs ago he took me to the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Arlington, VA; he pointed out the various men he knew from Vietnam b4 he began to tear up and had to walk away b/c he couldn't handle the heartbreak of the losses. It's 1 of the reasons why I'll be so damned glad when our troops come home from the Middle East. It's time to clean up house at home vs trying to play politics in countries who don't want us there.

My dad's getting up in yrs (76, almost 77yrs old now) & he's a former Gunny Sgt Marine; he doesn't have many years left w/the heart problems, glaucoma, & just wear/tear on his body from fighting in 2/3 wars & then sent stateside to train soldiers in boot camp to fight. I want this song played when he's laid to rest at some point in the future, which I hope is a long time from now. (He's my step-dad in name but my DAD in heart & life) He's spoken of Korea a bit but not of Vietnam.

They're aren't many covers that are done that well but George Michael does as he hasn't tried to alter it in any way though I do to still love Don Mcleans version..... beautiful
