The lyrics are West Indian response to 1960 independence for Congo - West Indians regarded the Congolese as relatively unsophisticated and this was a kind of protest song against British rule - if the Congolese can be independent, what about West Indians?

I first heard this song in Jamaica in 1989. I still love it all these years later. Thanks for posting it because I lost my CD and am so glad to have it back.
