Date: December 17, 2011

Casvant Pipe Organ, Opus 3872
Words, W. CHATTERTON DIX
Abridged from a chorale Treuer Heiland, C. KOCHER 1786-1872
Arranged, DAVID WILLCOCKS
@emajekral Yes, I recognize the Willcocks descant! It must have been written for King's College Chapel, which has a huge delay in the sound! They also have to take everything a bit slower than usual there, for the same reason

@ellenlinn7 Good advice on the phrasing. What you hear is partly the fault of the arrangement. The arranger put a double barline in the score after every other bar, probably to allow reverberation to decay in a larger hall. They should probably be ignored in a smaller, less resonant room.

Very nicely done! I am surprised to find another recording of Jaques arrangement of this piece. I just recorded and uploaded the same.

I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (January 8), I played this for Sunday School Assembly.

You have a very good sound and blend. I do feel that you should work on phrasing, that is, not automatically taking a break at the end of each line of the hymn- sometimes phrases continue on to the next line! Lean in to it and think about where you are going! But your sound is really excellent, keep it up!

I feel we are a choir with lots of potential. I wonder if we would benefit from some more detailed delivery training.
