Baby Of Mine

Precious moments with my sweet rat, Diblet. He has cancer and I'm afraid the time I have left with him is short, so I'm happy I was able to get such beautiful footage of us spending special time together. (Song: Amy Gileadi singing "Baby Mine" from "Dumbo." As long as I live, this will always be my little guy's song.)

Update: Diblet was suffering from a tumor when this video was taken; although it was benign, the location (next to the eye) and the secondary infection that had formed around it made it inoperable. I was heartbroken to find out the infection — which was being treated with powerful antibiotics — had started invading his nasal passages, closing them off and making it hard for him to breathe. On Tuesday, February 17, 2009, Diblet died peacefully in my arms at the vet's office, snuggled up in his soft baby blankie with his head resting on my heart. It was extremely hard to say goodbye and I miss him terribly. He was a brave boy, with a spirit as big as all outdoors. He may not have been able to stay with me, but he will always BE with me. I'll see you again one day, Mr. Man. Wait for me at the bridge.
