Trio Caliente is comprised of longtime Washington musicians Deborah Benner (vocals), Michael Bard (guitar, keyboard, percussion) and Amilcar Cruz (guitar). Together, the trio produces music that seamlessly fuses together elements of Bossa Nova, gypsy rumba and contemporary flamenco with soothing jazz vocals and musical arrangements.
Centered around the collaboration of Bard's precision instrumentals and Benner's smoky vocals, Trio Caliente delivers a sophisticated collection of songs that can both energize and soothe as soon as the first notes fill a room. With songs that are sung in English, Spanish and Portuguese, their new release, 'Baila Me,' is a diverse collection of tracks that highlight the band's worldly musical sensibilities.
Deborah Benner, described by the Washington Post as, '...a beguiling soprano voice,' adds flare to Bard and Cruz's complex guitar riffs. Benner and Bard have previously been featured on several TV and radio shows including NPR's 'All Things Considered.'
Trio Caliente has toured extensively throughout South America, the Middle East, Spain and Portugal. The band has also performed for political dignitaries such as former President, Bill Clinton, former Vice President Al Gore, United Nations Secretary General, Kofi Annan and many others.
