Americans protest Saudi women driving ban

Women drove around the Saudi embassy with signs plastered to their cars in support of women's rights to drive in Saudi Arabia.


According to Ali Alyami of the Center for Democracy and Human Rights in Saudi Arabia, there is no justification for the ban.

The ban restricts women's ability to travel freely in Saudi Arabia, which protesters state also affects them in other ways.

The United States alliance with Saudi Arabia, which includes a recent $60 billion arms deal, was another point of contention for protesters.

Saudi embassy officials refused to comment.

The protest coincided with other demonstrations taking
place throughout the Saudi Kingdom where women took to the streets to drive and broke custom, which they hope will lead to a new social
order- one that sees greater equality between the sexes

@subzeroevildusk90000 I think it would be best for woman to be able to drive. Because imagine if their husbands were at work and they needed to go somewhere for their child, or just get some things... they would have to get public transport.... but the driver would be a male... Would the husband want the wife to drive around with a strange man? I don't think so. So woman should be given more positions in society too so woman don't have to deal with strange men.
