How to replace the spring in a Swingline model 545 stapler. I made this video because the spring fell out of my stapler and I couldn't figure out how to put it back in properly. I searched the internet high and low and found nothing on how to properly replace it, so I guessed, and figured I'd share it with the world. If you know that I've done it wrong, please let me know how to do it properly.

  • my mother bought a new stapler simply because the spring detached, and she thought it broke. Lol thanks for the video

  • That was sooooo helpful. I tried fixing the stapler by myself and finally had the bright idea to google it. Within minutes, the stapler was fixed and I feel like the office hero.

  • @macbot2000 great help but I have trouble in that the sliding piece that pushes the staples came out... ugh

  • Thanks a million. Been sitting here at work, staring at the spring and stapler, stumped. All fixed up now!

  • Thanks, just fixed my stapler by following your steps. Mine stapler doesn't have a bland name. Now it works just fine.

  • worked perfectly thank you much

  • Unfortunately, this repair didn't work with my Swingline model. The thin piece of metal at the top is attached to the black clip in such a way that it can't be separated from it the way you demonstrate. This makes the repair a helluva lot more difficult and I had to use a special modified hemostat to get the damn spring in place before attaching to the slider goody.

  • This is awesome! Also please check out our swingline stapler ad on our page. Thanks

  • lool thanks and did that hurt at 1:01 ??

  • That was great
