Imagine how incompetent you have to be as a German commander to not realize the enormous potential of that gun when soldiers carrying the gun simply walked through enemy lines. Even American soldiers carrying the M1 Garand were slaughtered in the battle of the bulge counterattack. On the eastern front it was even more devastating.
