In an attempt to capture the vast crossover market between comic book nerds and professional hockey fans, the NHL has unveiled The Guardian Project, an initiative much more badass sounding than it actually is which taps the creative talents of famed graphic novelist Stan Lee to create a superhero persona for each NHL squad. Having already introduced the highly original LA Kings "The King" and Pittsburgh Penguins "The Penguin", we thought we'd follow the NHL and Mr. Lee's formula, dedicate upwards to 3 or 4 minutes of our time and come up with a few NHL superheroes of our own.
Toronto Maple Leafs "The Maple Leaf" This valiant hero isn't like most brutish brave men. He hopes to vanquish evil opponents with his disarming smile and hospitality. When outnumbered, The Maple Leaf will simply disappear, leaving his enemies to aimlessly score power play goals at will. Always willing to lend a helping hand, The Maple Leaf will use his trusty moose rifle to shoot his draft picks to any team in need, because surely The Maple Leaf has no use for them.
The New Jersey Devils "The Devil" Is he friend or foe? When it comes to The Devil and his alluring blow-out and tan, one can never be too safe. His flashy style, money and history of good times can be too much to turn down. But beware, as minions of the underworld are known to do, The Devil may steal your soul by contractually binding you to the NHL's crappiest team for the next 17 years.
Chicago Blackhawks "The Blackhawk" A proud and noble warrior, The Blackhawk will defend his sacred and native ice with all his might. Knowing no mercy, The Blackhawk will use a man advantage to lay low his victims. Fiercely loyal to his gods—Hossa, Kane and Toews—The Blackhawk will do anything to placate their needs and make salary cap room for them, even if that means sacrificing key members of his tribe. - created at http://animoto.com
