The Java Sparrow is originally from the island of Java, but has been introduced in all the surrounding areas of Southeast Asia, Africa, South America and the Pacific Islands.

The birds are presented in a shiny gray color on the entire upper body with pink belly and tail and black head. Presents a large white patch on the cheeks with a beak faded from pink to red. There are many mutations in captivity.

It feeds on seeds of canary seed, white millet, panic, niger and rice.

Its reproduction occurs during our winter, with temperatures around 20 degrees. Average of 3 or 4 broods per season with the help of nurses in captivity (White-rumped Munia).
