These fellows (Pica pica) have a neostriatum approximately the same size as chimps and humans, and larger than in gibbons. Like other Corvids (Family Corvidae) such as Crows and Ravens, their total brain-to-body ratio is equal to great apes and cetaceans, and only slightly lower than in humans. This is further shown by the fact that they're the only non-mammal to pass the mirror self-recognition test!
Many people don't recognize that birds can be this intelligent.
