Here to say THANK YOU to the Canadian health care system. My mother just broke her hip on a long weekend, and a surgeon came in at 1 a.m. to operate on her, and given her age, it probably saved her life.

It's far from a perfect system, but it's pretty damn good.

They should change it from the "American Dream" to the "American Delusion". That has a more authentic ring to it I think. People will work towards something a bit more realistic. Unless you're born rich and everything is handed to you - expect to work your entire life to make the rich even richer in the US-or be a crook. Choose wisely.

There is something to be said about some of the freedoms they have in scandanavia vs. the US. In Finland you can drink in the car!!!! Not as a driver of course but as a rider. Awesome!! Every year we lose more and more rights in the USA. Think airport security and the Patriot act. RIP freedom.

Lenny Bruce was doing this stuff in the 50s, and he's the inspiration for a lot of these social critic comedians.

It's not ugly. You read something in the news that pisses you off, comedians like these guys make jokes about it, and then it doesn't piss you off as much. This comedy isn't ugly; it's cathartic.

Why has comedy gotten so ugly? Are audiences really this willing to wade through waist-deep effluence (I mean sewerage) to reach a predictable and kind of stupid punchline? Apparently so. And it's a foreboding symptom. Democracy's fatal flaw, this Dictatorship of the Mediocre-tariat will deliver us into the hands of a much uglier, and far more potent malevolence. And in character with the livestock they've become, the general public won't notice until it's far too late.
