!!SUPER GLUE IN WATER YOU GOTTA TRY THIS!!! (NEW SURFACE TENSION OF WATER) SCIENCE EXPERIMENT

Crazy Chris is testing surface tension and shows you a NEW and exciting way to see surface tension!

Objective: To understand why water droplets form spherical shapes and how molecular tension works.

Materals Needed:
~ Shallow Dish
~ Water
~ Super Glue

Step 1) Fill your shallow dish with some water.

Step 2) Drip drops of super glue into the water watch as they shoot all over the place and spin.

HOW DOES IT WORK:
Surface tention is a force that allows outter molecules in a liquid to act like an elestic aginst an outside force such as gravity or this paper clip. This happens because molecules are attracted to each other. Since the molecules on the outside layer of a liquid, have a greater force from the molecules on the inside pulling on them, this creates an inward force on the outter molecules which is why water droplets form sphereical shapes. The reason the pepper moves away from the dish soap is because the soap molecules brea the hydrogen bonds which create surface tension. Once the hydrogen bonds break the hydrogen atoms are repelled by the soap atoms charges and the floating pepper grains move with the repelling surface tention. The super glue droplets have a layer polymer molecules that form on the outside of the droplet. As the glue diffuses out of the droplet the polymer skin shrinks and then breaks forming tiny holes which allowing the glue inside to rush out and break the surface tention of the water. This happens all over the droplet causing surface tention to be broken at different times making the glue move all over the place or spin.
