  • It's going to take a 7x12 mini lathe. I did a test rig with one drive rod lifting a quarter of the weight and that worked fine. Of course there's a little added friction in the finished lift but I have the option of either adding 2 or 4 more threaded drive rods or a counter weight system. The lathe won't be held in place by the lift, once raised bolts will hold and level it.

  • Well I'll be darned! That a rather good idea. What lathe are you going to put on it? Bare in mind that if it is too heavy it will distort everything and you'll have problems.
