Test firing my new 75 caliber musketoon boar gun. This one was made by Greg Christian from parts by Jackie Brown. It has a massive barrel on it the likes of which I've never seen before. I'm starting out with light loads of just 75 grains FFG. Recoil was very mild at that charge with a roundball. No sights makes aiming difficult but I'm getting used to it.

  • so I'm guessing this was a .75 caliber ball or was it under bore like traditionally?

  • @flamedrag18 All I had to hand was some old .69" balls which are undersized. I'm guessing it takes around a .715" ball or so. Like a Bess. But the barrel is much thicker than any Bess I've seen. It's like a small mortar.

  • These are fun shooters to say the least, lol. I have an 1842 smoothbore Springfield musket(69.). I fire buck and ball combos.

  • you can load it with shot or buckshot too or any thing that fits down the barrel

  • @Cosmoline your likely right, but the british were known to use musket balls from .68 to .72 for the brown bess, so your .69 should be fine to use in this .75 musketoon, have fun.

  • SWEET!
