A vertical hold-down engine test by Armadillo Aerospace. The neighbors complained, as well they should; even though the test was conducted in the middle of a 100-acre field, at the property line the sound level was 102 deciBels.

  • As much as i love these videos, i can't help thinking that these kinds of means of getting of the ground are helplessly antiquated, like combustion engine. At the moment most of the funding is going into tinkering with existing methods, alas i think we should really come up with something truly different. And i'm first to admit: i have no clue what it is, perhaps we should really start making those space elevators...

  • as soon as we can get carbon nanotubes formed into a ribbon a hundred thousand kilometers long, space elevators are in business... until then, we're burning stuff and blowing stuff up.

  • @robotguy this can be a great help toward helping lift the elevator car as far as the lower levels untill gravity eases the load . something small with large lift.

  • What would happen if the cables break?? Hahahaha.

  • @bmaLrevilO Wait a minute... I wanted this medium rare! Not more well done than well done!!!

  • upside-down bonfire!

  • cool!!!!!

i think that ARMADILLO AEROSPACE could reach the space. . .

i hope that it could help a lot. . . .LOL

  • wouldnt that suck if the truck got in a crash on the way

  • good video and well done.there is another way, but its abit more complicated, but will work. Just the gov'ts would be abit upset if IF it went wrong big time. But I know it would work because they have used it but wont tell the public they went that way and i can't type it in here. for those reasons. but nice view night shots. :)

  • Rockets? YAWN!
