Wow, this guy has not only mastered in wrestling but also teaching and communication, a rare trio indeed.
-
I won states 3x's with this spiral ride series and dislocated my opponent's shoulder my junior year in the state finals. It really does work, if you follow through with the aforementioned series. Don't see it utilized as often these days.
-
The way I was taught the spiral ride, from referee's position you go into a 'Christmas Ornament' and a 'Gina', then you start taking them around, your opponent isn't going to break down immediately, you've got to take them around and around and then trip them with an inside knee, or if they tripod, mule kick.

@ChickityChoice very true, I had my elbow hyper extended because of a "legal" chop.
-
@RPenta you can club people pretty hard in wrestling. That's nothing compared to what you can get away with
-
lots of interesting opportunities here for submissions or taking the back in BJJ or catch.
-
The chop against the defender's forearm is not considered a "strike" for amateur rules?

i considered myself a master of this series until i saw this video.
the two things i never thought of were the sprawl, and the pick and roll.
1. sprawling mid turn so you can get your arm deeper. i wud always dip my chest in but never thought of exaggerating it like that. pure genious.
2. the pick and roll after you have the chin secured. helps put more of your lower body into the turn and helps you wind up chest to chest after you've turned him.

Great control. All grapplers can learn a lot from Mr. Schalles.
I'm a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fighter and I still find his instruction very useful for my art!!!!!!!!

This is the only breakdown I used senior year of high school. I would get the hammerlock rather than the half though.
This is a great breakdown for upper weights.
