This heater needs no fans or pumps, and will not leave you freezing when the power fails.

  • I still find I am unable to achieve the high temps you have mentioned, the secondary burner has reached 550 deg C but adding more oil does not seem to increase the temp, I am only using a 10' temporary flue for testing, so possibly this and the small secondary burner diameter are restricting air flow. I will get back and update later when I have tested it more.

  • @shortscoff A 10' flue should provide plenty of draft, assuming that it is 6" diameter.

Check to see that the extra oil is not pooling in the primary pan. If it is, you will need either extra air holes in the secondary burner or a larger diameter tube. If not, there is no reason why it should not produce more heat. basic thermodynamics says that the more you burn, the more heat that must be produced.

  • Just like to say thanks for uploading your videos and plans from your website, I have completed the build of my heater and tested it a few times and it pleases me more every time I fire it up.

I was only able to get a 4.5" liner and I have used very large 1/2" holes in the secondary burner (single row at the top and bottom) which seems to work really well, easy to light and runs smoothly up to full heat.

I added 3 extra holes in the primary burner top plate and increased their size to 1/2"

  • @shortscoff I am really pleased to hear about that.

Every penny saved is a bonus especially now with the rising prices of all forms of heating.

  • @shortscoff I was going to PM you but yo have no Channel page.. Is their any possibility of you being able to perhaps post photos or a short video clip.

  • I wander if this concept could expand to boil water for use as a central heating system or water heater?

  • @onionofdeath here it is being trialed several years ago: Search for:

  • @sow4now @sow4now Mr Google is your friend. I am not your errand boy and having done all of thos before i'm not inclined to do it again.

I am quite happy with my character and integrity, and far too wise to be doped by your very poor use of child psychology.

Please troll elsewhere, and waste someone else's time.

  • well done.

  • What would be the calorific value in Kj/kg or Kcal/kg?

Is it comparable to Anthracite or higher?

from what is says here it should be higher, too bad not all have used oil to burn: engineeringtoolbox fuels higher calorific values

  • @onionofdeath It has already been done in southern Scotland, I'll see if i can find the video. The owner stated that it saved him 1500 pounds in heating costs in the first winter.
