In this lesson we will learn how to develop your speed technique with this series of development exercises starting here with learning the Major Scale with 3 notes on each string. Get this down really well before moving onto part 2.

Taught by Justin Sandercoe.

Full support at the justinguitar web site where you will find hundreds of lessons on a wide range of subjects, and all the scales and chords that you will ever need! There is a great forum too to get help, no matter what the problem.

And it is all totally free, no bull. No sample lessons, no memberships, no free ebook. Just tons of great lessons :)

To get help with this lesson (and for further info and tabs), find the Lesson ID in the video title (like ST-667 or whatever) and then look it up on the Lesson Index page of justinguitar.com

Have fun :)

  • @ubershredder1989 Sweet. Please post a video lesson, teaching us your method. It would be grealty appreciated, as speed is something most guitar players wish to develop, and to be honest, there are very few really good teachers on youtube. Most 'lessons' are just someone playing something, with no explanation or teaching of the techniques they use. Do you use Legato, Alternate, or Economy picking?

  • Damn Justin, just about every time I go to find a youtube video on something guitar-related, you keep cropping up. No complaints!

  • It makes it harder to do it fast :)

  • @KillerAnt360 dr's are actually not that bad. they last for a while and have decent tone.

  • i can play faater

  • sorry Justin-I apologize; I just watched the video again. Next time I'll watch more carefully. I see you're playing a B major @ the 7th fret. My mistake! Actually, my original posting was an accident; I started to write it then decided not to & it got posted any. I hope I didn't do any damage. Thanks!

  • The C major scale is C D E F G A B C. The C major scale is the only MAJOR scale with all naturals (no sharps or flats). The intervals are 1 1 1/2 1 1 1 1/2 (1=whole step; 2 frets, 1/2=1/2 step; 1 fret). All major scales have the same intervals. The G major scale would be G A B. The B flat is a minor 3rd. I agree this sounds like major scale, but different scales use the same intervals in different patterns. Maybe I'm confused because he says this is a G major scale with a flat 3rd.

  • @49DougP What are you talking about? That's a G major scale! Just listen to it for goodness sake! This is vey basic stuff.

  • This NOT a G major scale. There is a whole step between the the tonic and the 2nd and a whole step between the 2nd and the 3rd in a major scale.

  • @splitspades i saw a marty freidman interveiw and he doesnt follow scales he finds his own
