The land where modern day Turkey lies is called the cradle of civilization. It was here where the west and east first met thousands of years ago to conceive what we call Western Civilization.
Istanbul, it's vibrant heart, has always been a cross road. With one foot in Europe and the other in Asia it bridges ideas, philosophies and stories. It is a city that regenerates itself again again, changing many bodies but having an enduring soul.
The first time I heard the word Turkey was when I asked my father what is it he is drinking every Saturday that had such a strong aroma. Turkish Coffee he replied.

  • @gbbfreestyler It is the ritual of pleasure. I am not a coffee person myself but really enjoyed coffee in Turkey and I do read tea leaves, which is not serious divination but done as a social interaction. I put up some clips of my first coffees in Turkey and reading the grounds. It was fun and delicious! Very small cups. Moderation! The interaction with the servers was very pleasant. It's about people interacting, I think.

  • I went to Turkey alone, Ege, in 2010. I have vizier roots so this was fascinating for me. I was not happy with my package tour but found Western Turkey fantastic and the coffee and red tea great. I have some clips up of my Turkish coffee drinks. I loved the music there and found the women very graceful and lovely. I would recommend Turkey and have an American friend who lives and works in Uska Dar and loves it. Greetings from Paris, France.

  • I discovered Turkish coffee at a tiny, shop in in DC some 20 years ago. Whenever I went in, the owner invited me to sit & have that sweet, intense bitter treat behind the counter with him. We would sit & talk for a long while, (life seems so free in retrospect!). He cooked it the back of his shop in a small saucepan & poured the thick dark brew into small cups. While I didn't love the coffee itself at first, I grew to love the experience of sipping it with him, as customers wandered in.
