I know everything's pretty much done on computers now, but I wish my university had drafting classes for AE... :( Drafting boards are awesome.

I am in a community college, and soon I will be transferring to a university to study AE. I would love to design the future manned spacecraft that will go to mars and beyond, especially studying the possiblilties of interstellar travel; tuff but not impossible.

I am majoring in aerospace engineering and I love it!!!

@ericzanutto Thanks! My wife's cousin is an ME and has actually told me to take that route because it has broad career field. I still have a feeling I would like AE myself. I do know an AE as well, so fortunately I have been able to get opinions on both sides so far. But the reason I am getting an A&P is because I like aircraft, I would just like to design the stuff rather than be a wrench turner, I've done that for some years so I know already that's not my calling. I appreciate the input!

@theusnmefighter dont let people tell you ME is better that AE...do the research and figure out what works best for you. i can tell you almost all places that will hire an AE will hire an ME and visa versa. i work with a lot of AEs and MEs and im in the military acft business. AEs take a bit more math than MEs (atleast at Cal Poly they do...im sure some ME will step up here and call me an idiot). im not saying one is better than the other at all, just figure out which one works better for you.

@theusnmefighter experience, i can tell you all the struggling and having no life during college is well worth it. i love where i currently work and the job i do. anyway, getting back to your real question, i had to take about 9 math classes or 9 quarters of 4 unit math classes ranging from basic calc, differential equations, vector calc, and advanced (orbital type equations) math. dont let any of that scare you...you use very little of it in the real world unless youre sending things to space.

@theusnmefighter very well in college because they had the motivation to never go back to doing aircraft maintenance or other labor intensive, weird hour, jobs. these guys had problems with math in highschool but were just fine when it came to college. as long as you have a love for aerospace then youll find the drive to make it through. im not saying its easy, nor am i saying you have to be a rocket scientist, but it will be tough and at times youll hate your life. but in the end, from...

@theusnmefighter first off, my dads an aviation mech and has been his whole life after being in the airforce for many years. he has his A&P also and was an instructor for awhile so i know where youre coming from. he always encouraged me to take the route of being an engineer because he knows first hand how much work it is to move up in the maintenance field. with that being said, the people i went to school with who were coming back to school, a little bit older like you, happened to do ...cont.
i hate these fucking boreing as engineering youtube videos that is fucking from the freakin 1980's. this is about to be 2010, get some new stuff that shows what engineering is about today! and how interesting it is to get into the field. america is already in a major shortage of scientist and engineers, at least youtube can put up some up to date videos on the subject!

I'm still in highschool and I'm going to be an aerospace engineer, I love designing rocket engines and scale models of rockets. I also love math science and physics!
