Egypt refuses entry to Gaza convoy مصر تمنع قافلة مساعدات إلى غزة

George Galloway CAIRO — A Gaza-bound aid convoy in Jordan led by British MP George Galloway will not be allowed into Egypt through the Red Sea port of Nuweiba -- the most direct route -- Egypt's foreign ministry spokesman said.

There will be "no entry from Nuweiba. Entry can only be through El-Arish," on the Mediterranean coast, Hossam Zaki told AFP.

Around 250 trucks laden with European, Turkish and Arab aid -- both food and medical supplies-- arrived in Jordan from Syria on Wednesday and were headed to the Red Sea port of Aqaba for the ferry journey across to the Egyptian Sinai port of Nuweiba.

Entering through El-Arish port would mean going around the Sinai peninsula and through the Suez Canal into the Meditarranean.

In a statement, the foreign ministry said: "The Egyptian government welcomes the passage of the convoy into the Gaza Strip on December 27, on condition that it abides by the mechanisms in place for humanitarian aid convoys to the Palestinian people, including most importantly the entry of convoys through the port of El-Arish."

Egypt's Rafah crossing with Gaza is the only access point into the Palestinian territory that bypasses Israel.

British MP George Galloway, who is leading the convoy, had issued a statement urging Egypt to facilitate the convoy's passage.

In March, Galloway handed over thousands of dollars and dozens of vehicles to the Hamas-run government in Gaza after arriving in an aid convoy.

أعلنت وزارة الخارجية المصرية أمس الخميس أن قافلة ''شريان الحياة ''3 التي تنقل مساعدة لقطاع غزة وينظمها النائب البريطاني جورج غالاوي لن يسمح لها بدخول مصر من ميناء نويبع على البحر الأحمر، وهي الطريق الأقصر، بل من ميناء العريش.
تضم القافلة نحو 250 شاحنة محملة بمساعدات إنسانية أوروبية وتركية وعربية من أغذية ومعدات الطبية، ووصلت الأربعاء إلى الأردن من سوريا واتجهت إلى ميناء العقبة (على البحر الأحمر) لدخول مصر عبر ميناء نويبع.
وقال المتحدث باسم الخارجية المصرية حسام زكي لوكالة فرانس برس إن القافلة لن تدخل من مرفأ نويبع، بل ''من ميناء العريش البحري الذي تخصصه الحكومة المصرية لاستقبال قوافل الإغاثة'' على ساحل البحر المتوسط.
وللوصول إلى العريش، يتحتم على القافلة الدوران حول شبه جزيرة سيناء وعبور قناة السويس قبل الوصول إلى الساحل المتوسطي.
وأكدت الخارجية في بيان ''ترحيب الحكومة المصرية بمرور هذه القافلة إلى قطاع غزة وفي التوقيت الذي اقترحه منظمو القافلة يوم 27 الجاري، شريطة الالتزام بمعايير الآلية المصرية لدخول قوافل المساعدات والإغاثة الإنسانية للشعب الفلسطيني الشقيق، وأهم تلك المعايير هي دخول القوافل من ميناء العريش البحري''.
من جانب آخر، قال أبو عبيدة المتحدث الرسمي باسم كتائب عز الدين القسام الجناح المسلح لحماس وهو يأخذ له ساترا في بستان بقطاع غزة ''نحن لا نتمنى الحرب.. نحن نتمنى الهدوء والسلام لهذا الشعب.
''ولكن إذا فرضت علينا أي معركة فنحن جاهزون بكل ما نملك من عناصر بشرية، وبكل ما نملك من قوة لمواجهة أي حرب وأي جريمة صهيونية وأي اعتداء مهما كان حجمه.'' وقالت إسرائيل إن الكتائب التي يقدر بعض المراقبين حجمها بنحو 25 ألف مقاتل تسعى بمساعدة كل من سوريا وإيران إلى تطوير قدراتها الصاروخية لتصل إلى تل أبيب العاصمة التجارية لإسرائيل. وقال أبو عبيدة الذي كان ينتقل مع حراسه المسلحين من مكان لآخر في البستان لتفادي رصده من جانب الطائرة الإسرائيلية ان حماس ليس أمامها أي خيار سوى تطوير ترسانتها
