  • ...and her epitaph was, "Pardon my dust". Thanks again for posting!

  • Seems like Dottie really loved Benchley and it broke her heart it went unrequited. I guess he loved her only like a dear sister.

  • Actually, the book is called "Wit's End"

  • Anyone wishing to know more can track down "At Wit's End," a fine history of the round table crowd, as well as Harpo's own hilarious and wonderful book and Kanfer's superb book on Groucho Marx that touches on this area. There are other books about various people including Dottie herself that I haven't yet read. Groucho called the round table an "intellectual slaughterhouse," by the way.... That sums it up.

  • @Tuoppi1989 Harpo is indeed the mallet man who makes the girls shriek. He's also in the new year's party scenes, laughing ironically at the playwright reading his scene and exchanging fake punches with Charlie. He's briefly seen at the round table but does not speak--of course, he never said much there, anyway, as he pointed out in his autobiography. Since the film focuses on Parker-Benchley, Harpo is only a bit player. He was much closer to others of the table, not these two.

  • @Tuoppi1989 I think he's in part 8, around 7:16 - the man running around with the croquet mallet. I'm sure he's in other scenes, but nothing that seems to stand out as an identifying moment.

  • Thanks for posting.

  • Where does Harpo appear?
