Jonathan Schooler is a Professor at UC Santa Barbara and has been working on the phenomenon of The Decline Effect. Scientists attribute the decline effect to statistical self-correction of initially exaggerated outcomes, also known as regression to the mean, but there may be more to this when looked at through the lens of consciousness. Jonathan was the editor (with J.C. Cohen) of Scientific Approaches to Consciousness, which was published in 1997 by Lawrence Erlbaum.

  • It's great to see Jonathan getting some attention for his work! If you're interested in this subject, you may also want to look at my forthcoming book:

    The Decline Effect:

The law behind diminishing returns and

    wildly varying outcomes in markets,

politics, culture, religion, disease, and war

The first chapter and table of contents are on my blog. You'll have to Google for it, linking is against YouTube rules.
