The first Earth Week Festival in Second Life builds from the world wide celebration of Earth Day on 22 April. It embraces shared values and celebrates our efforts toward creating a sustainable human presence on the Earth.

Events held around the world recognize and honor our life-giving environment. Earth Week in Second Life reflects this excitement in many sims across our virtual world. There are discussions, concerts, art exhibits, tours, and more being confirmed every day.

Kick off Earth Week on April 18 at Avatar Action Centre with a whole range of events. Then enjoy the Earth Week Global Folk live music concert featuring 10 musicians from around the world at Freestar Bay Isle. Then the spotlight moves to Better World Island and th Centre for Water Studies. On April 20 tour African mangroves then the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) sim, soaring through a hurricane on the wing of a research aircraft, rising gently through the atmosphere atop a weather balloon, or searching for a hidden underwater cave on a side trip from an NOAA submersible.

Tuesday 21 starts with events at HumLab Swedish University and the challenging and informative Green Ideation Quest by the University of Innsbruck. Then celebrate our seas with a merfolk event and underwater concert. Earth Day itself is shared with great programmes at Etopia and the new EcoCommons sim. The French speaking Ecologia hosts April 23 and Amnesty at Four Bridges April 24. Earth Week at the Pocket takes us overnight.

One of the most significant events of the week is The Gathering of Nations, a Native American Festival held in Albuquerque, New Mexico USA from April 23 - 25. It is the venue of over 600 tribes and nations participating in a three-day event where over 4,000 participants share, teach and exchange traditions with each other. This celebration will be simultaneously hosted in Second Life at the Native Lands sim on April 25 with a Formal Pow Wow, music, and great infotainment.

Earth Week festivities wrap up on Sunday April 26 with tours and a celebration of past and present Greenpeace activities for environmental protection on Commonwealth Island.

THE IMAGINE NETWORK

The Imagine Network works for a better world, with human rights, social and environmental justice for all.

We work in Second Life, connecting people to people, group to group, and network to network.

We are about awareness and imagination, rather than fundraising.

Our events can be grid wide and multi day. We aim to identify the root causes of the big toxic global problems facing us; to help find solutions; to help people act together in cooperation.

We look to stimulate left and right brain; to seek inspiration and understanding, to use creativity and information.

Join us! Be the change you want to see!
