this is a clip from the TV show Boston Legal Season 4, a very touching, emotional, loyal, sad, loving and caring speech Alan Shore gives us in court, defending his client to give her father a Morphine dose to relieve him from pain, to put him to permanent sleep and as he stands in court he speaks about his best friend Denny Crane who has Alzheimer's disease in its early stages.

  • So precious few shows have writing even close to this good. It's a shame this show is gone.

  • We can be humane and merciful towards animals but not our own families. My grandmother was dying from cancer. Terminal. She was in so much pain and drugs to deal with that pain that she was loosing her mind. The person she was died long before her body did and yet we couldn't do anything to help her.

If I were in that situation, and a number of similar ones, I'd want to be helped in that manner and yet it's illegal. May have to blow my brains out before needed because of that, which is sad.

  • This can apply not just with Alzheimer's but with many other progressive terminal illnesses that simply aren't curable and ARE painful for everyone. If you dont want to, don't do it, but for others there actually can be no hope. Ex. People in a vegetative state. God damn I hate republicans!

  • @augustus404 - This is a memorable scene, one which many of us can identify with - it tears at your heart because of the truth, emotion, love and anguish involved in the words spoken by Alan Shore -- Yes he also spoke for me!

  • I only wish William Shatner, at the end, had looked confused and said "Beam me up, Scotty".

  • @DingleberriesQ what does that mean dude you not allowed to love this show if your young i started watching the show a months ago and ive finished all 5 seasons and am only 18

  • @DingleberriesQ im a teen and i freaking LOVE the show!

  • @HitlerWasRight2010 and my point is that its not a bit biased, its enormously biased.

"A show that brings unspoken truths to Light."

I just mentioned that this isn't the truth and they neglect to mention the other side's reasonable arguments while making them look like idiots. But if your okay with that, thats fine. I hope one day a show comes out that genuinely seeks to bring "truths to light" but I haven't seen one yet. Meanwhile we've got these BS shows brainwashing people.

  • @Angelsdawn When you write a show like this you have to be a bit biased and emotion provoking to counteract the thoughtless and emotionless propaganda that plagues society. Critical thinking is being able to see and calculate the big picture. Alzheimers is just one issue in the whole picture. My point is that we need to be talking about important issues right now. Even if they are uncomfortable to talk about. It is the only way to fix this horrible society that Man has created. 1 2 3...Talk! :o)
