Title: CoS insider #1: "Legal wallhacking"
1. Yo, today I will show you how to "wallhack" WITHOUT using any cheats or other programs. There
are two main things which tell you where an enemy could be: Sounds and prediction. In this
guide, I will talk about sounds; Sounds are more important than most people believe.
2. Before I talk about sounds, it's important to have the correct settings. In-game: Press
ESC/Setup/Sounds. There you see "Effects volume" and "Music Volume". Effects Volume is the
important thing you need, because Effect sounds are footsteps, skin breaths or other noises. I
recommend to put Effects Volume very high, and Music Volume low, so you can hear the Effects
better than the Music. Of course, the "Sound Quality" has to be put to 'High'.
3. I know many people are listening to music while playing Jedi Knight II, in that case just put
the Music Volume to 0 and put the Effects Volume a tiny bit up, so you can still hear the
effects while enjoying your music. Obviously, a good sound card is required as well. Make
sure you update your Sound card's driver regularly.
4. Now that you have the optimal settings, let's go: All basic skins in JKII cause some kind of a
noise while bunny hopping. It's very easy to hear it if you think about it on purpose. It's
important that you always listen to your environment. Firstly, you must concentrate on listening
to the game and after some time it will become a part of yourself, so don't give up - all it
takes is time.
5. I will give you two examples now of how to "wallhack" with sound. My position is a known
camp spot for people. It's very easy to make a DFG and hit them, simply because I can hear them
before they actually come through the door - Now listen closely to the sound and look.
6. There you see, I heard him before he actually entered the red base. Also, the side doors
of red/blue base make a sound a tiny bit of a second before they actually open. This is a bug
and if your reaction is good enough, you only need to listen to the door sound and be fast
enough to kill them.
7. Of course, there are many more sounds in the game, for instance when activating a saber. Many
returners camp with the saber down, because if they have the saber up, it will reflect a glow
to the walls, which can be seen by the runners. Check the walls, the light of the saber is
reflected there. However, if the returner has the saber down, he must attack the runner if he
is coming. He is forced to activate the saber, and activating the saber causes a loud sound,
listen.
9. As runner, I always keep blue style and am ready to use blue special in order to change my
direction. A tiny second before the returner would attack, you will hear him activating his
saber. This way you know he's there and have enough time to change direction. Smart returners
attack you fast enough so you don't have the time to turn around, but the better you learn
to listen to your sounds, the faster you will be able to react.
10. Good luck!
