M -- I have made pies since I was a teenager, and I NEVER have a "pretty" crust. But, as John says -- your pie is perfect. Be proud of yourself. Your adoring husband obviously is, and that's all that matters. . . and well, that it tastes good too. ; )

@TheDogDew Haven't been vegan in a while and hot implying it. I do quite a bit a lacto-ovo vegetarian meal prep, and vegan cleansing twice a year. There is a season for everything ....

We use an interior stove thermometer; as far as the fire itself, that's a whole science in itself with the flue control. Thank you, I am really wowed by all the good comments!

actually, most of the cooking is done by Mr. KitenKattan - I just experiment :) This year - probably the gluten free version. will keep everyone updated! Happy Thanksgiving!
