  • You could see early in the fight, that Marcelo was very vulnerable to the knee.

  • ADCC and BJJ championships are nowhere close to street reality...MMA is the closest, but still has too many rules. Bring PRIDE back!!! Real MMA eheh

  • I do BJJ and I realize that you only have to be a blue belt to handle yourself if a fight goes to the ground. The Basics are all there, and when pressure and fear hits you, those are the ones coming out. Not fancy X Guards and De La Riva's and stuff like that. BJJ good sport, not good for street...all Gracies Propaganda. But I do it and love it...but also do Kickboxing and Boxing. My first passion.

  • In a real fight he gets choked out!

  • @Kazmoli1 i dont think this video indicated that, garcia had all around better jiu jitsu then Kim it was the striking gap that made this fight not go garcias way, the difference between a martial artist and a MIXED martial artist woulda been a better comparison

  • @Kazmoli1 Sure there's a huge difference between sport jiu-jitsu and MMA, but the only thing this match shows is the difference between good and bad luck.

  • @TheTramsen meh fair point. but that's more out of athleticism/lots of training than out of pure street skills. i'd imagine a street thug who'd actually been in fights would know that there are things a sportsman wouldn't have thought of. something as simple as broken glass for example. and also sportsmen apparently break their hands because they don't know that punching the jaw in real fights isn't the cleverest thing to do. my point is, mma sport doesn't necessarily translate to street skills

  • @ubersum1 you seem to forget that in a real life situation, against an average joe with no grappling or actual striking knowledge, an experienced fighter could pull the easiest combination possible and knock the street thug out in a mere couple of seconds. What is that broken glass going to do when his arm is already broken or his face has already smashed the concrete?

  • you combat sports fans need to realize that mma is a sport, played by sportsmen, made to please people and generate revenue. you will never face a situation like the one found in mma "on the streets". you won't be rolling around the ground one on one against someone for several few-minute rounds with cornermen giving you drink breaks in-between. realise that mma is fun to watch because it has rules, and that's why it's not REAL. noone wants to see eyes gouged out or bottles smashed.

  • @Kazmoli1 *mma jujitsu. just what part of mma is not sport? rofl. it's just as much manufactured, regulated, and geared towards money-making as is any other combat sport. perhaps a little less, as there is no standing count. but the point is, you play under rules that prevent serious injury on a soft (compared to real life) surface, surrounded by soft cage/ropes, wearing stretchy shorts, in front of a massive paying crowd. in what respect is mma supposed to be a reflection of real life?
