@RGreeneRI The part in front of the hammer is called the disconnector. It holds the hammer in the cocked position until the trigger is reset. It is required for properly semi-auto functioning.

Why does my hammer group contain an extra piece in front of the hammer? It is located on the metal bar just in front of the hammer...
