Rovio BIG problems and criticisms. Spykee comparison.

To Wowwee, the makers of rovio I have this to say:

You've worked long and hard on this product, and I'm sure critisism is hard to swallow. But come on? You've seen first hand the problems I have. The product is clearly not ready for production - why was it released? I WANT to keep this product, problems or not. I was worse than a kid waiting for Christmas, when I see the promotional material it still arouses me...I WANT this product as it is supposed to be, I eagerly await version two, or better firmware or a fully working product.

In summary

Both the Rovio and Spykee products have big flaws.

Spykee falls over, if you bump the head you cannot move it back without being local to it.
Spykee docking is sometimes hit and miss
Spykee cannot move his head or arms.
Spykee falls over.

Rovio northstar doesn't work.
Rovio wont dock.
Rovio sometimes doesn't charge.
Rovio is WORTHLESS over the internet.
Rovio camera is useless unless it is VERY bright.

Both products do not support anything but WEP.

If you take the best of both products we're onto something...But I fear it's a long way off. In this day and age I expected much more from both products.

Spykee wins, it works, most of the time.

Now, where's my refund...

To be fair, skypee piggybacks over a skype connection to communicate instructions to the skypee using chat characters, that are interpreted by the skypee, then the skypee communicated video back to you through skype's webcam support. So yeah it's fast because they use skype, and skype has invested the resources to maintain minimal lag for chatting and webcam over the internet. Where as Rovio functions on software, and a protocol all it's own. So it'll lack some polish.

@SteamyThePunk no it doesn't. It CAN use skype but that's a third party hack. You see the standard skypee software in this vid (or it might be the other one i did).

@svengalie Umm actually is uses skype's protocol regardless. It might be a different GUI but the program uses the same protocols to talk to skypee as skype uses to communicate between instances. Trust me, I'm a developer too. They wouldn't implement two different networking systems to control the thing.

Rovio sucks.1. The north star sucks.2.wowee should make the connection between the broadband to rovio so they connect together u dumb retards.3.ok sure spykee and rovio both have trouble getting to base but at least spykee can although with rovio cant even get there with out sticking his stupid camera aerial up.4.svengalie is right.who wants to look at the ground or the seling and if u have the option to move the head why not let us choose.And 5 i think wowee is even to retarded to give a good

Sven - do you still maintain that this is normal performance? Plenty of online vids appear to show more normal - less laggy operation. Improved by firmware updates perhaps?

Why your doing some things wrong.

1.You need to have a 20 megapps or more internet speed so rovio can work without lag.

2.That table you have located blocks rovio's navigation signal,so he doesn't recognize where the charging dock is,and also can't record a path.

Rovio test drive works great so why your doesn't?Because your internet connection is shit.Your having no problem controlling spykee cz he's made to be able to drivven remotely even with a bad internet connection.Rovio does not

@TheYahtzeeClub you should buy spykee.Your gonna have a bunch of problems with rovio...ex.if you have carpets in your house rovio will not be able to dock succesfully.Sorry for the lateness of my reply,i just checked it

i have rovio and i hate it it never charges correctly. but for some reason there is like no wait for me to connect to my rovio it just looses battery way too quickly.
