Didn't think I'd ever hear hunky Harry Guardino & the super sexy Lee Remick sing! And Gabriel Dell was once one of the Bowery Boys! THANKS for posting this rarely heard original Broadway cast number! Amazing stuff! :-)
I am starting to realize that THIS is the momentous, watershed Sondheim number. One can hear, in embryonic form, hints of the greatness that followed in later shows. The complexity, the unexpected harmonic turns, the miraculous layers of harmony and melody, the twists of phrasing. I could go on, but this is "simply" an ingenious number. Have seen this in performance a couple of times and was amazed that the company got through it in once piece.
Love this song :) My school is doing this as our 2011-2012 winter production :) One of my favorite songs

@windowdresser You have expressed in your words fine insights into Sondheim's genius, with Whistle his launching pad.
