Everything c0nc0dance criticizes polygamy for can happen in a straight marriage too.

My thought on the same argument for same gender marriage can be used to argue for polygamy is that as far as I know polygamy is purely a religious practice. While coupling is in no way religious necessarily it can be recognized by government where polygamy cannot because the government cannot recognize religion per the constitution.

@KemaTheAtheist That is not exactly what I meant, but I don't think this is going anywhere. Should we just agreed that we disagreed on polygamy. If there is coherent model for polygamy marriage, I would be interested to get know about it. But without any evidence that polygamy marriage could give same kind of legal protection as normal marriage and threat everyone fairly (even in disagreement), I'm going to vote "No" in elections.

Again, argument from personal incredulity. It's worthless.

That's not equal. The same arguments that apply to same-sex couples applies here. The extra rights aren't afforded the same protections under the law.

First, if you enter polygamous marriage, chances are you're going to take car of the child anyways because if not biological to you, he/she is biological to your spouse. Second, the situation would probably be treated as step-children would be, because technically that's what the child is: a child of a spouse that is not biological to you. We have laws for that already.

I think they recently found that many larger dinosaurs were endothermic... I forget how they did it... something to do with isotope levels I think.. I know that's not mammals, but it's evidence of endotherms anyway :) I heard about it on the skeptic's guide I think
