Salaam.

Just as you said, the imams knew of when they were going to be killed, this doesnt mean that they liked to be killed. Allah(s.w.t) had provided them with knowledge of certain events but that doesnt mean they would turn away from the role they were to play in helping Islam live.

Even Prophet Muhammad(s.w.w) on many occassions was seen weeping over the narration of Karbala and Hussains tragic martyrdom, after Jibrael told him. therefore its a Sunnah to cry for Hussain(a.s)
