@ucsasmh If only people in America knew what PH means to all his admirers. I'm a 15-year old from Portland, Oregon, and Hammill's entire 70s output (not to mention VdGG) is among my most treasured listening.

@ABOVEZESEALEVEL Fool's Mate as suggested is a good start. But follow up with "The Future Now", his most accessible early record, "Sitting Target" and "Skin", his best records from the eighties.

@ucsasmh He was known in stage theater because he wrote some stuff for older rock operas. The Who has some similar style during their Tommy album. People see this as a bit fem but David Bowie Ziggy has an element of this in it.
