So due again to an unfortunate filter problem (the second time in one year), I had to shut down another tank. I grabbed the driftwood from it and stuck it in this tank (after properly cleaning it). Here are the "ingredients" of this tank:

1x Black Ghost Knife
1x African Upside-down Catfish
1x Blue Gourami
1x Common Pleco

They all tend to leave each other alone, which they have been raised to do. The Ghost Knife, despite being nocturnal, comes out and greets me when he knows hes about to be fed. At night, the catfish loves exploring the tank.

The plant that's in the center is real. There should be growth of more plant life in a couple of weeks, so we will hopefully see that soon.

I just moved into a new apartment a couple months ago, which is why I am reposting a video of this tank with it's modifications.

I'd love some ratings, so feel free to rate me if you want to!

  • You know the black ghost knife and the pleco are going to have to be put into a bigger tank eventually. They both grow very large, the bgk grows about 12" and the pleco can reach 24"

  • I know. Again, this was my "emergency tank" that I set up to prevent my fish from dying. I had a 2nd broken filter (gotta love those odds), and set this one up.

  • Hey does your water get kinda brown from the tanins in the wood? (african root) I have to scrub this stuff out every once in awhile. Maybe your pleco takes care of the problem. I need to get one! nice tank by the way.

  • If my pleco took care of the problem, I never noticed it! The wood I got was precleaned, and I scrubbed and washed it (without soap) before putting it in the tank to make sure that there were was no extra residue.

  • are the black ghost knifes peaceful because i seen 1 in my local petshop with guppies and platies so they must be its just that i'm changing from big aggressive cichlids to a peaceful community tank and wanted 1 black ghost knife fish to go with the other tank occupants thanks nice tank 2

  • yeah, they are quite peaceful. my ghost knife just likes to hang around and check the bottom sediment for food!

  • ur black ghost knifefish gets up to almost 2 feet and is a tropical fish

  • What kind of filter were you using? I've switched all my tanks over to Aquaclear filters and swear by them. Never had a bit of problems and the one in my 29 has been running for a bout 6 years. I did have to finally change out one of the sponges though. Nice looking tanks and you've got some great fish.

  • poor tank fish

  • wht can of driftwood is it

  • the ghost knife gets 20+"

  • thank you

  • in a 29 gallon community fish tank, 4-5 otocinclous would be perfect, they are fast at getting the job done and they only get about 2 inches long max. they are my favorite algae eater in the freshwater hobby. good luck!

  • whats a good alge eater or fish or anythin that could clean my substrate and tank. money is no issue. but my tank is a peaceful tank. and its 29 gallons. i really like shrimp but i dont no if thier catable. help me!!
