Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, Ill., is making needles a little less scary by being the first area hospital to use a new drug designed to eliminate the pain of needle sticks for drawing blood and inserting IVs. It is called Zingo and delivers a drug without needles using compressed helium.

  • I hope the hospital in my hometown has that drug to help me not be nervous around needles no more.

  • I totally need this! I hate needles, what I do when I need to go in for labs, I take orajel an hour and a half before I go in and I dont feel the bite of the needle...(Im a vet tech, learned that trick from tech school!)

  • The company, Anesiva, took this product, called Zingo, off the market. Check out Pain Ease. You can see an IV start using Pain Ease by typing in "Pain Free IV." It's immediate and non-drug.

  • Either that or some EMLA? This is kinda cool though. My cat got his tetanus shot with a similar device. I didn't know they had it for a human pt.

  • Why wouldn't use Pain Ease? You just spray and it works instantly, very inexpensive too!
