22 April 2010 - The hit film AVATAR is about an intergalactic mining corporation that ravages distant planets and people in a rapacious drive for profit. On Earth, the Rio Tinto Corporation is following a similar script, making mistakes that harm communities around the globe.

This MUA rally is in support of the hundreds of workers recently locked out of the Boron Mine (Mojave Valley, USA) on 29 January 2010.

  • It isn't proposed, they are up there ruining the upper penninsula as I write. I have a list of people to write. Somehow I don't feel that I'm doing enough by just writing, but I'll write. What I feel like doing is going up there and lying in front of the bulldozer so they cannot continue their mining operations.

  • Rio Tinto Zinc is also trying to push around the people of Michigan's Upper Peninsula with the proposed sulfide mining operation. Google Save the Wild U.P.

The watersheds of this region drain directly into Lake Superior of the Great Lakes system. We are concerned with this pristine fresh water source being contaminated by acid mine drainage.

  • Very creative! Solidarity with the locked out ILWU Local 30 workers!

    MUA, Here to STAY!

  • This is a brilliant video - Proud to be UNION

  • Solidarity to our brothers and sisters in America.
